Description:

Across academic careers, faculty members frequently find themselves spending one or more intervals in a leadership role. Most commonly, this involves assuming responsibility for graduate or undergraduate degree programs, or serving as a department chair or school director. Some colleges and universities provide limited training to faculty assuming new leadership roles, but that training is often technical (i.e., the “nuts and bolts” of paperwork and process compliance) rather than providing actual leadership skills (i.e., understanding how to guide a group of faculty through a reorganization process, how to proactively integrate to inclusion considerations into unit operations, how to have Philadelphia, PA. The ALDS is designed for aspiring and new leaders (less than 3 years of experience). The Summit will explore the landscape of academic leadership, help participants better understand their leadership strengths and weaknesses, and foster a cohort of rising and aspiring leaders through networking and peer engagement.

The 2026 ALDS is being offered at no cost to registered Annual Meeting attendees, although participants must cover all standard conference costs (e.g., travel, lodging, registration, per diem). Space is limited, and attendees must register in advance by February 20.

Description:

The ACJS Assessment Committee has developed an engaging workshop you don't want to miss! The Assessment Workshop will be held in conjunction with the ACJS 63rd Annual Meeting. There will be two tracks: a Current Issues in Academic Assessment track and a Nuts-and-Bolts training track with presentations covering some of the basics of starting and running an assessment program. The workshop is open to all attendees and is free of charge, but advance registration is required—registration ends on Friday, February 6, or when the maximum attendance is reached. Space is limited. 2026 ACJS Cybersecurity Workshop- Investigating Cryptocurrency Crimes

Description:

This intensive training course emphasizes blockchain forensics and hands-on investigative exercises, making it an ideal program for law enforcement professionals, prosecutors,financial industry investigators, and researchers focused on cryptocurrency-related crime. Participants will explore real-world applications of blockchain analysis in a variety of cases, including sextortion, romance scams, pig butchering schemes, and human trafficking. Special attention will also be given to cryptocurrency risks associated with major global events such as the FIFA World Cup.

Core areas of instruction include the detection of money laundering through blockchain analytics, the regulatory landscape surrounding cryptocurrency, and best practices for implementing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols. Attendees will engage in hands-on exercises using blockchain forensic tools to trace transactions—learning how to identify source and destination wallet addresses, transaction IDs, timestamps, and the amounts transferred. Through scenario-based exercises, participants will use a document triage worksheet and crypto evidence collection guide, preparing them for immediate deployment in the field.

State / Provincial: Fusion center analysts, state police investigative / interdiction teams, AG human trafficking task forces.

Event: ACJS Program Reviewer Training

Description:

ACJS Program Reviewer Training (3 hours) - Preregistration Required. This three-hour training will teach faculty how to become an ACJS Program Reviewer. Reviewers will be equipped to serve as external consultants for criminal justice and criminology programs undergoing periodic self-study. The training will focus on the ACJS Quality Program Standards and how to apply them to program reviews. Once faculty have completed the training, they will be listed on the ACJS website as Certified Program Reviewers. Candidates for training must hold an academic appointment and hold the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.  The workshop is open to all attendees and is free of charge, but advance registration is required—registration ends on Friday, February 6, or when the maximum attendance is reached.
