PLEASE NOTE: LCD projections will be available in the meeting rooms. No overhead projectors or computers will be provided. If you require an HDMI connection to the LCD projector, please bring a cable with you or contact our audio-visual provider prior to your session and request that one be provided for you. The audio-visual contact number will be posted in the meeting mobile app. Additional audio-visual equipment is the responsibility of the presenter. Individuals wanting additional equipment must either bring equipment to the conference or make the necessary rental arrangements through the ACJS audio-visual provider. Tour of Fort Leavenworth - The Tour is Full. Waitlist Only.
ACJS will be offering a guided tour of Fort Leavenworth on Thursday, March 23, 2017, beginning at 7:15 AM and returning to the Kansas City Marriott Downtown at approximately 2:00 PM.
Cost per person: $25
It is recommended that you pay by credit card at the time of registration. If you choose the "bill me" option, please be sure payment is received by February 28, 2017. After that date, if reservation is unpaid, you will be removed from the tour and a wait list attendee will be added.
7:15 AM: Confirmed tour attendees will meet at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown Lobby to be checked in
7:30 AM: Bus will depart Kansas City Marriott Downtown
8:50 AM: Arrive at Fort Leavenworth Visitor Control Center to meet tour guide
9:00 AM: Driving tour of Fort (historic sites, prisons, cemetery, Buffalo Soldier Monument)
10:00 AM: Frontier Army Museum
11:00 AM: Army Corrections/United States Disciplinary Barracks briefing
11:45 AM: Buffet Lunch at the Frontier Conference Center (attendees will purchase their own lunch at the Center; cost of $25 does not include lunch)
1:00 PM: Return to Fort Leavenworth Visitor Control Center and begin trip back to Kansas City Marriott Downtown
NOTES: Please be sure to bring a picture ID on the day of the tour. There will be very little walking on this tour. The only restriction is that no weapons will be allowed on the tour due to the fact that this is a Federal facility. There will be no exceptions to this restriction.
2017 MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOP
The deadline for registrations has now passed.
As crime and criminal justice topics continue to dominate the news, reporters at mainstream media outlets need credible, knowledgeable and prepared experts to address trending issues. During this media training workshop, the Crime and Justice Research Alliance (CJRA) will provide resources, tips and best practices to help you promote your findings with target audiences. Learn how to establish relationships with reporters, manage tough questions and leverage social media to ensure your research is accurately represented. Whether you have been interviewed a dozen times or have yet to create a Twitter account, this workshop will offer useful tips for experts with varied degrees of experience. Reporters need your expertise and want to know about your findings – learn how to make your voice heard in the national crime and criminal justice discussion. if you require more information, you can email Caitlin Kizielewicz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This workshop is open to all interested ACJS attendees and is free of charge but pre-registration is required. Registration is limited to twenty (20) participants and is on a first-come basis. The workshop will be held on Thursday, March 23, 9:30AM - 12:15 PM, at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.
2017 SAGE TEACHING WORKSHOP

Interested in improving your teaching or in developing teaching skills? You won’t want to miss the ninth annual ACJS Professional Development Teaching Workshop that will be held Tuesday evening, March 21, 2017, and continued on Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, during the upcoming ACJS Annual Meeting in Kansas City. This workshop is designed to help faculty develop new and innovative ways of teaching. Experienced teachers and scholars will facilitate the sessions, offer information about creating and facilitating online courses, present tips for submitting manuscripts to journals, suggest techniques on how to be productive and find time to write, and much more.
This workshop is open to all interested ACJS attendees and is free of charge but pre-registration is required. Registration is limited to sixty (60) participants and is on a first-come basis. SAGE Junior Faculty Professional Development Teaching Award winners will be pre-registered for the workshop.
2017 ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP

The ACJS Assessment Committee and Peregrine Academics are proud to announce the Second Annual Assessment Workshop to be held at the Kansas City Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 21 from 1:30-5:30.
If you have not heard the term assessment, you soon will. If you are wondering what assessment is, how it works, or just want to exchange ideas on best practices, this workshop is for you. Topics will include an introduction to assessment, creating assessment at the course and program levels and the relationship between assessment and accreditation. Time will be available to share best practices and ideas with your fellow attendees. A tentative agenda is listed below. Food will be available thanks to the generosity of our sponsor, Peregrine Academics.
