BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
Position/Rank and Salary: Criminal Justice Program, Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice, Instructor level.
Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for two temporary, full-time positions beginning August 2012 (AA# 45-1-191 and 45-1-229).  Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester: two upper level and two lower level courses, each semester.  Courses related to position 1 (AA# 45-1-191) are Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police and Society, Criminal Justice Ethics and Criminal Investigation.  Courses related to position 2 (AA# 45-1-229) are Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Procedure, Probation and Parole/Community Corrections.  Other upper level courses will depend on the finalists’ areas of specialization.  The program in Criminal Justice is a social science-oriented program, housed in the College of Liberal Arts.
Qualifications: Minimum qualification is a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited institution, with a strong academic background.  Juris Doctorate alone is not sufficient.  Applied and/or professional experience in the field and college level teaching experience are strongly preferred.  Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations required. Finalists for this position must communicate well and successfully complete a phone interview process. Recommendation for hiring is needed by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty.  Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.  Completion of these searches is contingent upon available funding.

MERCYHURST COLLEGE is a Catholic, liberal arts, primarily residential college founded by the sisters of Mercy, with an enrollment of approximately 4,000 students.

Position/Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor of Criminology, Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Description: The School of Arts and Sciences seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in September 2012.  The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of Criminology; specialization is open, but experience in teaching criminological theory and research methods is preferred. Quality performance will be expected in instruction, research, professional development, and University service.  The regular teaching load is 4/4.  Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

Position/Rank and Position: Assistant Professor, Criminal Justice: The Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Houston Downtown seeks to fill one tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Fall 2012. The Department offers B.S., B.A.A.S., and MSCJ degrees in Criminal Justice. Both the MSCJ and BSCJ degrees are offered face-to-face and completely online.
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in criminal justice or related discipline is required. Applicants with a J.D. but without a PhD. will not be considered. ABDs in the final completion stages of their dissertation will be considered. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and an active research agenda. Applicants should be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in criminal justice related topics. Online teaching experience is desirable as the successful candidate will be required to participate in the department's distance education program, which includes off-campus and online degree programs. Candidates must have a demonstrated scholarly expertise, teaching experience, or a strong interest in teaching and researching topics addressing community intervention strategies and crimes associated with urban social disorganization.

Position/Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice (tenure-track): Salary is commensurate with qualifications. 
Qualifications: Duties include teaching courses, performing research in criminal justice, and serving on departmental, University, and professional committees. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, scholarly activities, and service. Potential courses include Police Systems and Practices, Criminological Theory, Statistics, Correctional Institutions and Criminal Justice Personnel Management. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Criminal Justice or closely related field.  Strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service appropriate for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.  ABD’s will be considered for visiting positions. Preferred Qualifications: 1) Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and 2) Record of publication in peer-reviewed journals in the field.
