ACJS Call For Abstracts For Participation in the ACJS Workshop at the UN Congress Meeting
Salvador, Brazil
April 12 - 19, 2010


During the last two conferences, ACJS held exploratory sessions in preparation for the UN Congress in Salvador, Brazil, 12 to 19 April, 2010.  Based on these sessions, most of the participants have indicated an interest in the workshop on international criminal justice education for the rule of law.  As a result, the workshop will address this topic. The title of ACJS’ workshop for the UN Congress will, therefore, be International Criminal Justice Education for the Rule of Law.

The ACJS will authorize 3-4 individuals to participate in workshop.

Members who are in interested in participating are requested to send the following:

  • a 350 to 400 word abstract of their proposed presentation.
  • a brief vita outlining only those things that are applicable to this project (e.g. prior work on these topic areas, prior workshops offered, publications applicable to this topic, current position, etc.).  DO NOT forward your entire vita.
  • a statement indicating that if selected, you will be able to cover any expenses not covered by the Academy, and you guarantee that you will attend, except in emergency.  We need assurance that individuals will not back out once they are selected.

Participants must be members of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences at the time of selection and participation in the Brazil meeting.

The Academy will reimburse no more than $1000 of each selected participant’s expenses.

British Society of Criminology Conference
July 11 - 14, 2010
First Call for Papers Now Open

In 2010 the British Society of Criminology Annual Conference – entitled 'Human Rights, Human Wrongs: Dilemmas and Diversity in Criminology' will be hosted by the University of Leicester. The main conference will take place on Monday 12 July to Wednesday 14 July with the postgraduate conference taking place on Sunday 11 July.

Our guest speaker is the internationally renowned human rights lawyer and founder and Director of Reprieve, Clive Stafford Smith OBE. We also have an exciting line-up of academic keynote speakers comprising: Ben Bowling, Reece Walters, Lilie Chouliaraki and Jeff Ferrell and in addition, Laurie Taylor, from Radio Four's Thinking Allowed, will be speaking at the conference dinner.

The 16th World Congress of the International Society for Criminology
Kobe, Japan
August 5 - 10, 2011

 The Japan Federation of Criminological Associations (JFCA) cordially welcomes you to participate in the forthcoming 16th World Congress of the Int’l Society for Criminology to be held Aug 5th-9th, 2011 in Kobe, Japan. 
 
The congress will be held in the Kobe Int’l Conference Center on Port Island, a man-made island off the coast of Kobe, a port city located near Osaka in western Japan. 

General theme of the Congress is “Global Socio-Economic Crisis and Crime Control Policies: Regional and National Comparison”.  Under this theme four sub-themes are set to be examined in the plenary sessions, in which internationally recognized experts are invited to make presentations:
1. Global Economic Crisis and Criminology
2. Models of State and Crime Prevention Strategies
3. Corporate and Business Crime
4. Frontiers of Clinical Criminology
