IMPORTANT:  

Due to the Mardi Gras time of year, travel into New Orleans will be a challenge on the weekend before Mardi Gras, Monday, 2/12, and Tuesday, 2/13.  Please take this into consideration when booking your flights.  It is recommended that you book your hotel room as soon as possible as our room block will definitely sell out.  An overflow hotel has been obtained and the reservation link will be posted online once the Hilton New Orleans Riverside room block is full.

2018 Final ACJS Annual Meeting Mobile App and Program 

 

The 2018 ACJS Annual Meeting Mobile App is now live!  The mobile app will contain the most up-to-date event schedule.  To download:

 

1.            From your iOS or Android device, Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and search for the "CrowdCompass AttendeeHub".

2.            Download the app, open it, and search for “ACJS” or “ACJS 55th Annual Meeting”.

3.            Tap on "Download". Make sure to allow push notifications to ensure you are kept up-to-date on changes to the conference schedule.

4.            If you wish to log in, tap on the “Menu” bar in the upper-left hand corner then tap “Log in for more features!”.

5.            Start by entering your name and email address. This will trigger a verification email to be sent to your email address.

6.            In the app, enter the 4-digit verification code from the email and press “Verify” to fully access all the app has to offer.

The 2018 Amended ACJS Annual Meeting Program as of February 7, 2018, is now available for review by clicking here.  Also available are the Presenter Contact Information file and the Presenter Session Index file.  Click here for view the abstracts for the 2018 Presentations. 

 

Please review the program for your presentation date and time.  You can do this by searching the program (instructions below) or by checking the Presenter Session Index file (link above).

 

To search the program:

1.  Press Control-F.

2.  In the Find box, enter the words you wish to search for.

3.  Press Enter to search the document.

 

The program is a large PDF file.  Be sure to allow the document to fully load before you begin the search process.

 

If you find that you have a conflict or need to move a paper presentation for another reason, you must first locate another panel to move your paper to, contact the new panel chair to obtain permission for the move (contact information can be found in the Presenter Contact Information file, link above), and then notify the ACJS Association Manager (manager@acjs.org) of the change details.  Please remember that a panel ideally should have a minimum of three (3) papers if at all possible, and should not have more than five (5) papers due to time constraints.

 

If you need to withdraw your presentation, please send an email to the ACJS Association Manager (link above) and to your event chair/moderator (contact information can be found in the Presenter Contact Information file, link above).

  

THERE WILL BE NO PRINTED PROGRAMS FOR THE 2018 ANNUAL MEETING.  If you wish to have a hard copy of the program, the program files online can be downloaded and printed for your reference.  The ACJS mobile app will be the most up-to-date reference for meeting events.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  LCD projections will be available in the meeting rooms.  No overhead projectors or computers will be provided.  If you require an HDMI connection to the LCD projector, please bring a cable with you or contact our audio-visual provider prior to your session and request that one be provided to you.  The audio-visual contact number will be posted in the meeting mobile app.   Additional audio-visual equipment is the responsibility of the presenter.  Individuals wanting additional equipment must either bring equipment to the conference or make the necessary rental arrangements through the ACJS audio-visual provider.  Please contact the Association Manager for rental information – manager@acjs.org.

REGISTRATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2018 SAGE TEACHING WORKSHOP

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION HAS PASSED.

 

Interested in improving your teaching or in developing teaching skills?  You won’t want to miss the 10th annual ACJS Professional Development Teaching Workshop that will be held Wednesday evening, February 14, 2018, and continued on Thursday, February 15, 2018, during the upcoming ACJS Annual Meeting in New Orleans.  This workshop is designed to help faculty develop new and innovative ways of teaching.  Experienced teachers and scholars will facilitate the sessions, offer information about creating and facilitating online courses, present tips for submitting manuscripts to journals, suggest techniques on how to be productive and find time to write, and much more.

This workshop is open to all interested ACJS attendees and is free of charge but pre-registration is required.  Registration is limited to sixty (60) participants and is on a first-come basis.  SAGE Junior Faculty Professional Development Teaching Award winners will be pre-registered for the workshop.

REGISTRATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE 2018 MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOP
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION HAS PASSED.

 

As crime and criminal justice topics continue to dominate the news, reporters at mainstream media outlets need credible, knowledgeable and prepared experts to address trending issues. During this media training workshop, the Crime and Justice Research Alliance (CJRA) will provide resources, tips and best practices to help you promote your findings with target audiences. Learn how to establish relationships with reporters, manage tough questions and leverage social media to ensure your research is accurately represented. Whether you have been interviewed a dozen times or have yet to create a Twitter account, this workshop will offer useful tips for experts with varied degrees of experience. Reporters need your expertise and want to know about your findings – learn how to make your voice heard in the national crime and criminal justice discussion.   If you require more information, you can email Caitlin Kizielewicz at ckiz@crimeandjusticeresearchalliance.org.

 

This workshop is open to all interested ACJS attendees and is free of charge but pre-registration is required.  Registration is limited to twenty (20) participants and is on a first-come basis.  The workshop will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, 12:30 PM - 3:15 PM at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

The ACJS Assessment Committee and Peregrine Academics are proud to announce the Third Annual Assessment Workshop to be held at the New Orleans Annual Meeting on Wednesday, February 14 from 1:30-5:30.

This year’s workshop will focus on Overcoming Academic Assessment Challenges with Workable Solutions, with a focus on providing insight and best practices on how to address common challenges in academic assessment. Topics of special interest may include, but are not limited to; resistance and buy-in, funding, implementation, getting usable data/sufficient evidence, translating findings to plans for future action. Time will be available to share best practices and ideas with your fellow attendees.
